A beautiful early fall day, a big, beautiful family, and a pick up game of football in the backyard turned out to be the right combination for a picture perfect family photo session. Add to that a backyard that is a photographers dream (and nature lover’s paradise) and a penchant for Corvettes and we had everything we needed. What do you get when you cross a beautiful and expressive family with a larger than life Minnesota ritual? Pure Awesomeness. The Zellner Smiths love the fair. They love it so much that they let me (a self-professed but no longer fair-hater) tag along to document the joy they see. Turns out these 5 and the other 252,000 fair goers contributed lots of joy and some pretty great photographs. Thank you Zellner Smiths for giving me this glimpse. The anticipation and excitement over their soon to arrive little girl was palpable and oh so fun to photograph. John and Andrea are fun loving and radiant and their joy was contagious. Andrea couldn’t have been more beautiful and John was so attentive and his sense of humor set the mood for the session. This little baby girl sure hit the parent lottery with these two. Take a look!

Meet Joe. He’s donned hockey skates since before he could spell, recently took up soccer and checks ESPN like Gomez Addams checks the stock ticker. He’s got his sights set on a career revolving around his sports passions, but for now he’s going to finish his high school career with the Waconia Wildcats. For his session, Joe and his mom came into Minneapolis to stand alongside the city’s icons and he knocked it out of the park. Check it out.
